Protocol

The Mercurius Window System (MWS) defines how a client inhabits a remote workstation. It is designed to be:

• simple to implement
• efficient over modern networks
• robust against latency
• transport‑agnostic

The protocol is documented as an Internet‑Draft at the IETF, and as a slightly newer local copy on this site:

The reference implementation of the Mercurius Window System is available via Git:
